Comfort

I’ve been eating a lot healthier this spring and summer than I ever have before, but some days are not for healthy eating.

Since breaking up with my partner of 4.5 years a couple of weeks ago, I definitely have found myself turning to comfort foods. There is suddenly a serious dent in the butter and we have no bread left in the apartment. I even woke up this morning to an empty Nutella jar. Oops.

I can’t eat this way forever, but sometimes a small treat is just the thing I need to cheer me up, especially when it’s one I make myself. The warmth and sweetness of this sandwich really calmed me down, while the slight saltiness kept it from being cloying.

Plus, a salad for lunch, and two hours at some of my favorite exercise classes totally made up for it, right? Indulgences are fine. . .as long as I get back on the healthy bandwagon soon. . .
